Our little guy turned 6 months old today. I can’t believe it! Calvin’s great-grandpa wasn’t sure if we’d still be living here when his first birthday rolls around, so he bought him a 1/2 year old birthday cake. Steve’s parents came over to celebrate, too. Steve and I weren’t in on the planned surprise, so Steve and Calvin were both napping when his parents came over. In fact, Calvin got in his full 2 hour middle of the day nap before I woke him up for the festivities.
Of course, he didn’t eat cake, but he had fun watching us celebrate on his behalf. Calvin ate sweet potatoes . . . mixed with blended raw coconut. I tried it, too. It was creamy, sweet, and pretty smooth. Since we couldn’t track down the camera, we used a camera phone to snap a fantastic shot of great-grandpa holding Calvin while helping him blow out the candles–and Calvin was looking directly at the camera. If we can ever figure out how to download photos from our Motorola phone on to a computer, we’ll post it. At the moment, we’re still reading the online version of the user’s manual.
6 months–halfway to a year old. Wow. Today Steve remarked about what Calvin was like as a newborn. He would get so tired in the middle of the night that I could hardly wake him up to feed him. That kid just slept like nobody’s business. However, I remember shortly thereafter that he wouldn’t nap at ALL! Glad to see he’s developed a good sense of balance in his life!
