Putumayo Sesame CD/DVD: Win it!

Earlier this month, I reviewed the joint venture product: Putumayo Sesame CD/DVDI’ve Calvin’s been listening to it almost non-stop for weeks.  It’s so lighthearted and catchy!

And now, faithful Readers, you can win your very own copy!  Visit Sesame Workshop and explore the fantastic ways this non-profit is educating children worldwide.  Then, check out Putumayo Kids and check out their cool CD selection and teaching tools.

Finally, come back here and comment about a new fact you learned about each of these companies.  I could have asked you to comment about anything to be eligible to win, but I’m just so impressed with so many fantastic and free resources for children and learning that they’re providing worldwide, that I think it makes the biggest impact if you check it out for yourself.

You can always purchase your own copy of Putumayo Sesame CD/DVD online.

Only one comment per person.  Multiple entries will be deleted.  The contest for Putumayo Sesame ends at 11:59 PM (EST) on Saturday, August 30th. The winner will be announced on Monday, September 2nd.

The winner for each prize and 2 alternates will be selected on Random.org and announced on this post. If you provide your e-mail address, I will contact you. The winner has 72 hours to claim the prize, otherwise, the prize goes to the first alternate to contact me with a shipping address.

  1. I love the the Sesame Workshop has initiatives to help kids in four key areas: physical health, respect, literacy/numeracy, and emotional health. It is great to see a program taking a holistic view of child development.

And it is great that Putomayo provides not only downloadable teaching guides, but also all the lyrics to their songs – that’s an excellent tool.

  2. I didn’t know Sesame Workshop had so many charitable initiatives or that Putumayo offered teaching guides to go along with their releases. Very cool.

  3. I’ve always enjoyed Putumayo Kids since I discovered their World Playground (http://kevnjacks.blogspot.com/2008/03/our-kids-recommendations.html) and after looking at their site, I saw that they put together educational kits to go along with some of their CDs to teach about different cultures, their geography and things like that. Awesome! I also like the Sesame Street emotional wellbeing pages – a lot of our friends have been going through health issues and I think it will help the kids to sort thru their emotions. Thanks for the links!

  4. Oh wow! I LOVE Putumayo Kids and I’ve always respected the good things Sesame Street can do. I would LOVE to win this cd/dvd.

Thanks for pointing us to the good websites. I checked in on Sesame Street’s presence in South Africa, because my dad lives there 4 months out of the year. I thought it was great to learn that SS debuted there with Bert and Ernie – giving Bert a “black” accent and Ernie a “white” one but otherwise showing their friendship exactly as in the US… what a great way to model bridging the gap.

And I never knew that Putumayo had free downloadable teaching guides online! I just downloaded the African Playground guide and when I’m done commenting here I’ll go back and snag the other two. Those will be wonderful resources for our homeschooling family!

Thanks again for a great contest – my fingers are crossed.

  5. I had no idea that Putumayo had downloadable teaching guides, and I may well be using them in my classroom. At home, we play many Putumayo CDs for our 8 month old and would love to add this one to our collection. Thanks for the info!!

  6. I didn’t realize the full scope of the Global Grover segments. My daughter loves these parts of the Sesame Street Magazine. I’d like to watch some of them online with her. I think it is very important to understand that there are a lot of other people in our world.
I am very interested in the Putumayo teaching guides. My daughter loves maps and she would enjoy seeing just exactly where the music she is listening to is coming from.
    Thanks for a great post.

I also didn’t know that Putumayo Kids donates at least one percent of CD sales to non-profit groups that support children, families, schools and other charities. What great companies! Thanks for the giveaway!

  27. I’ve heard of both of the companies before, but had no idea of the depth they each have. I’ve watched MANY of the shows by Sesame Workshop, but didn’t know they were part of the group. I love that they are able to reach so many different kids through their programs around the world. And Putumayo has teaching tools? What a plus for parents, as well as teachers!

  32. I had no idea that Sesame Street was global. It makes sense, but I just never new that to be true. I was impressed with their willingness to help educate across multiple areas. I read about the Panwapa project where they educate children around the world through virtual travel in order to give them a more global perspective.

Putumayo Kids is awesome because they do not produce the typical children’s songs. I love that my daughter can dance to them. In fact we just ordered Animal Playground yesterday on amazon.com. Thanks for the giveaway Dolly!
