Wordless Wednesday: Get that Binkie!

Wordless Wednesday: 4 Generations

Almost wordless. I wanted to just write a short note to explain the significance of this post. I think this picture will be very special to Lucien in years to come. Here he is with his daddy, granddad, and great-grandfather (who is in his late 90s).

I have a very similar picture from my own childhood and I am the only child who has it (my great-grandmother passed away before any of my siblings were born). This will likely be the case for Lucien as well, so while he didn’t really seem impressed on the day, I do hope that he’ll appreciate the significance down the road.

Aren’t we lucky to have these photos as a lasting memory? I think so.

Wordless Wednesday: Inbound Spring

Spring is almost here, and we’re pretty thrilled about it. . . enjoyed some sunshine today by playing soccer and “chasing” each other in the yard.  Heavenly!

Want to know what it’s like to live in Virginia?  Check out Tina’s post on Little Tots/Big Ideas.  She interviewed little ol’ me about Virginia. You might recognize us in the photos.

Wordless Wednesday: Happy Baby!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Remembering Warmer Weather

Seven months ago, it was warm enough to go camping and wading in the Rapidan River.

Seven months ago, we swam and waded in Mint Springs to cool off from the sultry summer heat.

It was only 6 months ago that we hiked in Shenandoah National Park longing for a cool breeze as we trudged along the sun-beaten trails on a balmy day.

Only 32 days until it’s officially Spring.  Just 32.  It’s almost here!  I’m going to focus on the warm memories from these photos, and I’m going to ignore the icy and fluffy white stuff stacked higher than high outside.

Wordless Wednesday

More running

Fast Forward

Wasn’t it just last week that you refused to kick a ball…you had to hold it or throw it with your hands.  Today, you’re practically dribbling a soccer ball.

[Pressing the pause button]. Time is whizzing by me, and I’m not quite ready for it.

The last time we went to the playground, you were scared of the big kid swings–all you knew were those bucket swings.  But today, you held on with both hands and practically leaped off the swing while in motion.

When did you learn how to do that?  When did you turn into a little boy?

A few months ago, you wouldn’t dare set foot on the playground terrace without me holding your hand.  Now, you run from me as if it’s the most refreshing game of tag.  You’re all on your own on the playground, kid.

[Pause] Why isn’t this pause button working?

You’re growing into the most incredible little boy.  Of course, when I ask you if you’re a big boy or a baby, your response varies based on what’s in it for you…smart kid.

I hope that you’ll still want to hug me tight, sprinkle my face with kisses, and hold my hand for many years to come.

Please, don’t grow up too quickly…my heart yearns to savor every fleeting moment.

With all my love,

Wordful Wednesday: Cheese and Milk

The night that the big snow storm hit, we were driving back from Richmond.

The photo above wasn’t taken on the drive home to Charlottesville…but before he was beyond exhausted…before we spent all afternoon and early evening in the Children’s Museum of Richmond–watching him run himself silly when he was only afforded a 15 minute power-nap.

In the photo above, he was snacking on cheese, wearing a cute monkey hat, and saying the photo-appropriate, “Cheese!”

When we were at the museum, I noticed a milking cow…that actually produced something that looked a lot like milk.

A few minutes later, our friends’ son went over to the cow and said, “Look Daddy, it’s peeing!”

Wordless Wednesday: Daddy and Son Bonding

When Calvin awoke a little early from his Sunday afternoon nap, he needed extra snuggle time with his Daddy.

As in, an extra hour of nap time and snuggle time on the couch.

It kinda reminded me of this photo of the two of them when Calvin was only 5 weeks old.

Wordless Wednesday: Fall Favorites

Some of my favorite things about fall include…

1. Hiking through the leaves

2. Enjoying apples fresh from the orchard

3. Anything pumpkin: patches, soup, and especially pie.

YOUR TURN:  What’s are your fall favorites?
